McKinney ISD Named to the 2024 Educational Results Partnership (ERP) Honor Roll List of Top Performing School Districts in Texas

ERP Honor Roll Logo

The annual ERP Honor Roll program recognized 762 of Texas’ highest performing schools and 63 school districts.

Educational Results Partnership (ERP), a non-profit organization that applies data science to accelerate student success, has released the 2024 Honor Roll list of Texas top performing schools. This is the tenth year that ERP has completed the Honor Roll, which recognizes top public schools, school districts and charter schools that have outperformed their peers in closing achievement gaps, particularly among higher-poverty and historically disadvantaged student populations.

This year 762 schools and 63 school districts in Texas made the Honor Roll. This is approximately 12 percent of eligible schools and 9 percent of eligible school districts in the state. The full list of Honor Roll schools is now posted at edresults.org/honor-roll.

“We are incredibly proud to be recognized on the 2024 Educational Results Partnership Honor Roll as one of the top-performing school districts in Texas. This achievement reflects the dedication of our educators, the hard work of our students, and the unwavering support of our families and community. We remain committed to providing a high-quality education that empowers every student every day. We are also excited that two of our schools, Scott Johnson Middle School and Slaughter Elementary, were named to ERP’s Top Schools Honor Roll list,” comments McKinney ISD Superintendent Shawn Pratt.

“The Honor Roll recognizes high-performing schools where students are learning the fundamental skills employers demand,” said Dan Kinney, ERP’s Board Chair. “ERP is proud to recognize these districts and schools, and we want to learn about their best practices for teaching the fundamental skills of reading, writing and math.”

The program is part of a national effort to engage business leaders in recognizing successful schools and educational systems and promoting best practices that improve student outcomes. Honor Roll schools are recognized for demonstrating consistently higher levels of student achievement, improvement in achievement over time, and a reduction in achievement gaps among student populations.  ERP’s Chief Executive Officer James Lanich, Ph.D, says that, “The goal of the Honor Roll program is to use data to find and highlight successful schools and encourage collaboration among educators on best practices for raising student achievement. ERP is all about improving educational equity and promoting career readiness for all students, regardless of family income, background or ZIP code,” said Lanich. “By shining a light on successful systems and practices, we hope to spark dialogue amongst educators to replicate best practices throughout the state.”

McKinney Boyd Brings Home Trophy in 2025 MISD Battle of the Blues Physics Olympics

MBHS students holding up the physics olympics trophy.

When the Egg Drop went wrong, it produced a distinctively unpleasant crunch. Teams rushed forward to survey the results, groaning when they discovered a cracked or completely demolished egg. Success, however, elicited sounds of celebration.

That any of the eggs survived the 30 ft. drop was impressive given the materials that the teams were working with—a bagged assortment of odds and ends such as balloons, pipe cleaners and coffee filters—and only 8 minutes to assemble them into a contraption that, if all went well, would preserve the egg as it hurtled toward the ground below.

All of this to-do over eggs was part of the 10th meeting of the McKinney ISD Battle of the Blues Physics Olympics held at the YMCA Collin County Adventure Camp on Tuesday, March 26.
