McKinney ISD to Add New Preschool Locations at Eddins, Wolford and Reuben Johnson Elementary Schools

students

The success of the McKinney ISD tuition-based preschool locations introduced in August 2024, at Bennett Elementary and Malvern Elementary, along with the expanding need for preschool options in the district, has led MISD to announce three additional tuition based preschool locations that will open their doors on August 12, 2025, at Eddins Elementary, Wolford Elementary and Reuben Johnson Elementary.

The MISD preschool program is available to children ages 3 – prekindergarten (children who are younger than 5 years on September 1), and each location is under the direction of a certified teacher and trained staff. The centers are licensed by the Department of Family and Protective Services and are inspected regularly.

The program follows the MISD academic calendar and is structured to promote kindergarten readiness skills and will offer before, after and extended care. Tuition rates are based on a sliding scale.

Mike Medlin

McKinney ISD announced at its January Board of Trustees meeting that it has hired Mike Medlin as its new director of childcare programs. Medlin brings 29 years in education to the position.

The hiring of Medlin follows the recent retirement of previous childcare director Amy Dawson. Medlin comes to MISD from Royse City ISD where he has served for the past 10 years as director of childcare services. During his tenure, Medlin led RISD’s extended day program and launched an employee childcare program in the form of the Bulldog Learning Center.

Now, Medlin will direct an MISD department that offers a broad array of programs and services that includes five preschool sites, Club 360 after school care, MISD summer enrichment camps and a summer childcare program, holiday care and MISD employee childcare. McKinney ISD Summer Programs

We are hard at work organizing the summer programs McKinney ISD will offer for the 2025 summer. In early April, you can expect to receive a full list of summer programs being offered, including registration information for programs such as: high school summer school, high school STAAR remediation, SCOPE camp, summer enrichment camps, Extended School Year (ESY), and newcomer programming. For the 2025 summer, we will not be offering elementary and middle school summer school because our intervention services will be provided throughout the school year.
