McKinney ISD welcomes student teachers and observers during the fall and spring semesters.  All placement requests are handled through Human Resources.  Students, observers, and university representatives should not contact teachers or principals directly until after the official notification of placement has been approved by Human Resources.

 To request STUDENT/CLINICAL TEACHER placement, please follow the steps below:

1. Your university representative/advisor needs to complete the Student/Clinical Teacher Request Form.

   • For Fall semester, the deadline is June 1st

   • For Spring semester, the deadline is November 1st

2. Make sure your representative/advisor has the following information for the request form:

   • Description of the assignment

   • Length of the assignment (one semester/full school year)

   • Certification you are completing

   • Preferences for school and/or grade level

   • Assignment start and end dates OR total hours required for the assignment

3. Complete the McKinney ISD Volunteer application. You will receive an email once the background check has cleared (usually 3-5 days).

4. Once the official placement has been completed, you will receive an email from HR for next steps.

5. Attend Student Teaching Orientation.  You cannot begin your assignment until you have attended our orientation. A scheduled session will be provided upon acceptance of your assigned placement.  

    

To request Classroom OBSERVATION hours, please follow the steps below:

1. Complete the McKinney ISD Observation Request Form by clicking HERE.

2. Complete the McKinney ISD Volunteer application.  You will receive an email once the background check has cleared (usually 5-7 days). 

3. You will receive an email from HR with your campus and teacher observation information.

*Deadline for making a request for observation hours September 15th for the fall semester and January 15th for the spring semester.
