McKinney, Texas - McKinney ISD has chosen Wilmeth Elementary Principal Kristin Ellis to be the new principal of McClure Elementary. The district announced the change today to parents and staff. Ellis, who has served as principal of Wilmeth since 2018, has 30 years of experience in education with 10 years as an MISD campus administrator.
Ellis has played important leadership roles during her time in MISD that have included mentoring assistant principals, guiding professional learning communities and leading work on the Marzano High Reliability Schools framework at Wilmeth.
She began her educational journey in 1995 as a third-grade teacher at Vial Elementary in Garland ISD, but she has served the vast majority of her 30-year career in McKinney ISD. In 1998, she was hired as a fourth-grade teacher at Eddins Elementary, and she would hone her craft in that position for the next 14 years.
In 2012, she transferred to Press Elementary to serve as an instructional coach and then made her way to Wilmeth in 2015 as an assistant principal. In 2018—the same year Ellis was named the TEPSA Region 10 Assistant Principal of the Year—she was also the district’s choice to serve as Wilmeth’s new principal.
After 7 years at Wilmeth, Ellis will bring her leadership and instructional talent to McClure, a transition that is planned to take place this summer.
“I am truly honored to serve as the new principal of McClure Elementary,” said Ellis. “It is a privilege to become part of an exceptional community of educators, students, and families. As we embark on this exciting new journey together, I am eager to collaborate to build upon the strong tradition of excellence that defines McClure Elementary.”
