student reading from handout in class setting

McKinney, Texas—Fourth and fifth grade Gifted and Talented students at Webb Elementary put their litigation skills to the test while holding trials in the “Case of the Missing Owls.”

“It’s just so much fun to watch them be truly engaged in their learning, and not even really realize that sometimes they are learning,” stated Alpha program teacher, Tracey Stevens.

The students set-up courtrooms in five classrooms and took on all of the roles in the court case, from bailiffs to lawyers and judges. The students were honored to have multiple McKinney ISD administrators, staff members and even Mayor Fuller serve as jurors.
