McKinney, Texas — McKinney ISD announced on Thursday that Cockrill Middle School Assistant Principal Jennifer Larriviere has been named principal of Minshew Elementary. Larriviere brings a broad range of experience to the job gleaned over the course of 24 years in education.

Larriviere’s move to Minshew follows MISD’s recent announcement that Minshew Principal Inetra Nelson has been named principal of Malvern Elementary.

Larriviere began her career in Irving ISD as a 1st grade teacher and went on to serve as a library and instructional technology specialist before moving into campus leadership as an elementary assistant principal in Prosper ISD. She has been recognized throughout her career with an assortment of awards including Campus Teacher of the Year, Distinguished Technology Educator for the district and Lifetime PTA Membership.

In 2022, Larriviere joined MISD as an assistant principal at Cockrill Middle School where she has been a vital member of the administrative team. Now, she takes the next step in her journey as an educational leader.

“During my time at Cockrill Middle School, I loved building positive relationships with students, families and staff,” Larriviere said. “The experience of being a part of a student’s pivotal middle school years has been rewarding. Now, as I return to my passion for making a positive educational experience for our youngest learners, I am excited to do so with the knowledge of where our Minshew Colts are headed after their elementary years.”

“At Minshew, I am committed to building a collaborative team that will establish positive relationships with students, families and staff to create a safe environment where all students and staff thrive and continue to develop a strong community of life-long learners,” Larriviere said.

Larriviere holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies (elementary education) from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in library science from the University of North Texas. She received her principal’s certification from Stephen F. Austin University.
