McKinney, Texas — At the June 24, 2024, McKinney ISD School Board meeting, an important initiative was approved that will soon be implemented at our three high schools, the McKinney ISD Stadium and our McKinney Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) center to enhance safety and security for students and staff.
In the coming weeks, we will be introducing the Evolv Security Detection System. This system is a state-of-the-art, proactive measure designed to strengthen our existing safety protocols. It is important to note that this decision is not in response to any specific threat or incident within our district. Rather, it is a strategic step towards ensuring a secure learning environment for our school community. With the history of incidents in schools all across the United States, we wanted to be proactive in maintaining the safest environment possible for our students and staff.
The Evolv system is designed to detect a range of potential threats, including weapons, in a non-intrusive manner. It utilizes advanced technology to screen individuals as they enter the school premises, providing an added layer of security without disrupting the flow of students entering and leaving the campus.
As parents and guardians, we understand that ensuring the safety of our children is paramount. The implementation of the Evolv Security Detection System underscores our commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
We will be providing additional information and resources in the coming weeks to familiarize you with how the system works and what to expect during its implementation. Your cooperation and support are essential as we work together to prioritize safety in our school community. We value your partnership in ensuring the well-being of our students and staff.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. We look forward to continuing to work together to maintain a safe and secure environment for all.
