McKinney, Texas — They boarded McKinney ISD buses at the MISD Community Event Center with smiles and laughter, led by MISD Partners in Education Specialist Nancy Cowlishaw, and arrived at their destination amid fanfare and throngs of cheering kids.
Each year, the McKinney ISD Senior Adult Tour provides several MISD campuses the opportunity to showcase their students and programs for the senior adult members or our McKinney community.
2024 marked the 14th year of the tour, and this year the district welcomed about 60 senior adult guests. They were accompanied by Supt. Shawn Pratt, Board members Larry Jagours and Stephanie O’Dell and other district leaders as they made their rounds.
This year the tour visited MISD’s newest campus, Frazier Elementary, and then enjoyed lunch with PALS students at North, followed by a classroom tour of programs such as the Certified Nursing Assistance program, Sports Medicine, AVID and a Fine Arts showcase in the auditorium. The day wrapped up with a safety and security presentation at the MISD Community Event Center.
For second-time attendee Ben Jackson, it was another great trip through the halls of McKinney ISD. “It was a very informative tour,” he said. “What I really liked to see was the young people perform, the enthusiasm they showed and the energy—the teachers and kids and just all the enthusiasm.”
And, North senior Jaila Gilmore had a great time as an ambassador for her school. “It was nice meeting all these people, and they were so sweet. It was so nice. I loved it!”
