McKinney, Texas – The McKinney ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2025–2026 MISD school calendar at their regular meeting on Monday, December 16, and it is now available on the MISD website.

The 2025-2026 school year will begin on August 12, and will conclude on May 21, with graduation for all three high schools planned for May 22 at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen.

"The district had several goals while putting together the 2025–2026 calendar," said Dr. Shelly Spaulding, MISD assistant superintendent of public relations, communications, and support services. "We wanted to seek input from our stakeholders, and we utilized a variety of staff, student, and parent committees and groups to gather feedback. It was also important that it remain in line with Collin College and neighboring districts; that the school year would start in August and conclude before Memorial Day; that we offer professional learning opportunities throughout the school year for our teachers and staff; and that it would again this year include a Fall Break for students and teachers. And, we were able to achieve all of those goals."

Parents and students will want to take note of the following student holidays built into the 2025–2026 calendar:

September 1 — Labor Day
October 13-17 — Fall Break
November 24-28 — Thanksgiving
December 22-January 2 — Winter Holiday
January 5 – Student Holiday/Staff Development
January 19 — MLK Day
February 16 – Presidents Day
March 16-20 — Spring Break
April 3 — Good Friday

The calendar also includes two Bad Weather Make-up Days (April 6 and April 27) that will be used as student holidays if they are not used as make-up days. April 27 will be used as a Make-Up Day first, and then if needed, April 6 will be used.

Also included are 7 teacher workdays before the start of school, teacher exchange days in November and March and staff development days throughout the year.
