“Raise your hand if you were teaching back when chalkboards were considered high tech?”
That seems like a crazy question unless you are addressing the audience of a 100-year celebration, which was the case this past January for Finch Elementary. Current teachers and students along with former students and staff gathered to celebrate the school’s one hundredth anniversary of being named after the legendary educator, Fanny Finch.

“They remind each other all the time: we’re a family. There might be disagreements, but we handle that with respect, and we say things in a nice way.”

Nicole Milligan is the 2025 Teacher of the Year for Finch Elementary. She is a bilingual 1st grade teacher, and she has worked as an educator for 15 years.

At Finch Elementary, 5th grade students brought their stories to life through an exciting stop motion animation project in art class!

Led by Art Teacher Mr. Nguyen, this creative project served as a unique way to blend visual arts with the English Language Arts TEK focused on storytelling.
Students worked hard to plan, build, and animate their very own short films—demonstrating not only artistic skill, but also critical thinking, collaboration, and imagination.
To celebrate their hard work, Finch Elementary rolled out the red carpet for Oscar Day—a special event where the stop motion films were premiered and the winning team consisting of Daniel, Asher, and Eli were recognized and awarded!
From script to screen, these students proved that every story is better when told with heart, creativity, and a little stop motion magic!

Fun Run is this Friday and we are halfway to our goal! Every dollar counts, we can do it!

With the help of 40+ FedEx volunteers, this incredible initiative ensured that every child has access to comfortable, well-fitting shoes, helping them walk confidently into learning and success. A huge thank you to Operation Warm and FedEx for their generosity and commitment to our students!

McKinney ISD has been recognized as a District of Distinction by the Texas Art Education Association, ranking in the top 5.5% of Visual Art programs in Texas.
The Finch Falcons showcased our district’s artistic excellence by beautifying their campus through vibrant sidewalk art pieces. Art teacher, Danh Nguyen, organized the community-based project that brought creativity and positivity to the school grounds, and music teacher, Dustin Taylor, captured the entire day from above with his drone.

Attention all future Caldwell Cats:
Thursday, March 13 from 6-7pm, you will have the opportunity to tour the school and meet the administrators and counselor!

We are so proud to share that MISD has been recognized as a District of Distinction by the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA), ranking in the top 5.5% of Visual Art programs in Texas!
To celebrate this amazing accomplishment, we hosted a Big Art Day on Monday, where every Falcon had the opportunity to beautify our campus through vibrant sidewalk art pieces. It was a fantastic community-based project that brought creativity and positivity to our school grounds.
A huge shoutout to Mr. Taylor for capturing the entire day from above with his drone footage and to our incredible Specials Team for their support in making this project a reality.
Sometimes, we all need a reminder of why we do what we do—and this project was exactly that. We hope you enjoy watching our Big Art Day highlights as much as we loved creating them! 💙🖌️

New & Returning Student Registration opens March 3! We have moved up our registration timeline for our returning McKinney ISD students. As we prepare for open enrollment, our priority is ensuring that all residential students secure their place in MISD. To help us serve our students effectively, we encourage you to complete your child's registration as soon as possible. registering early allows district leaders to make informed decisions regarding class sizes, teacher assignments, and campus needs.
Snap codes for students who were enrolled with MISD as of February 20, 2025, will start going out the week of March 3rd. Parents will need to complete their student's registration to have access to their student's 2025-26 schedule (secondary) and homeroom teacher (elementary).
