Attendance

Hello Sea Lion families!

It is that time of year! So many sniffles, and it's SO hard to get out of bed when it's cold and rainy outside! Please take a few minutes to review all things attendance.

**Please do not send students to school if they have had vomiting, diarrhea, or fever in the last 24 hours. They need to be free of all those symptoms WITHOUT MEDICATION for 24 hours before you can send them back.

Communicate with your teacher and the attendance clerk immediately. Here is the link to report an absence:

A doctor's note can excuse any number of absences.

A parent note can be used to excuse up to 4 absences before January, and 4 after January, and must be submitted within 72 hours of returning to school.

Tardies count toward attendance. Please be on time every day. This routine and structure helps your Sea Lion thrive at school, helps them access their curriculum, and keeps the teacher and instructional assistant in the classroom.

At 3 unexcused absences, you will receive a truancy letter from the district.

At 7, you will receive a second notice and will need to meet with the assistant principal to complete a truancy contract and plan for improvement.

At 10, you will be referred for a District Truancy Hearing.

Please reach out to your teacher, your Family Resource Specialist if you're in the Head Start program, our Communities in Schools liaison, our counselor, or one of the assistant principals if there is anything we can do to help with attendance or tardiness. We can find solutions together.

Here is the link to the district's attendance policies if you'd like to review them in more detail.
