welcome back wolfpack

We had a fantastic start to the 2024-2025 school year! Students and staff were happy to be reunited. Only a few tears were shed by students and parents alike. Students got to learn about their new classmates through games and discussions. Teachers explained rules and procedures to ensure everyone stays safe and participates respectfully to create nurturing learning environments. Cafeteria practice is always important so that all students have enough time to eat their lunch. Parents are asked to wait to visit students for lunch until August 26 to allow all students to master the lunchtime procedures.

Our staff members were grateful to have dinner provided for their families after the first day of school as they were treated to a take-and-bake pizza and salad dinner compliments of the PTO and our local Neighborhood Walmart. This thoughtful tradition was started by former PTO board member and current Slaughter teacher, Brittanie Cavanaugh. Amanda Cunningham, PTO President and Megan Simmons, current PTO board member have carried on the tradition over the past few years. As the saying goes, "there's no tired quite like the first day of school tired."

Dismissal lines the first day of school were longer than anyone preferred, but things improved greatly on day two. Students, parents, and staff will get faster with dismissal as everyone masters the procedures, and students learn their dismissal number. Thanks to all families for your support in these efforts.

Great things are ahead of the Wolfpack in the new school year!
