Mrs. Kenealey, recently known as Coach K to all Slaughter students and staff, is enjoying her first year as our school's art teacher. Mrs. Kenealey was previously our school's PE teacher for many years. After collaborating with other art teachers in MISD, Mrs. Kenealey planned a school wide collaborative art project. She taught students about the art of murals and connected grade level art standards to the project.
This particular project was inspired by an artist who signed his spray painted portrait of Andy Warhol as "Thank You X," which became the artist's identity. He is now an internationally recognized artist with murals and galleries all over the world.
Visit the front hallway next time you're headed to the gym for GMS to take in the beautiful artwork created by our young artists.
