Students at Slaughter recently participated in a school-wide plastic bag recycling contest hosted by HEB. Each grade level competed to collect the most single-use plastic bags for recycling.
The school collected a total of 12,621 plastic bags. The 5th Grade Kindness and Compassion Club, led by Mrs. Wilson, assisted with the collection and counting of the bags.
The grade that collected the most bags was second grade!
The HEB plastic bag recycling contest encourages environmental awareness and reusing and recycling materials. HEB will recycle these bags to create new shopping bags for in-store use. The significant number of bags collected demonstrates the school's appreciation of recycling efforts. Congratulations to the second grade for their achievement. Way to go, Wolfpack!
