Vega Elementary

It was a short but busy week at Vega Elementary! 💫 🔹 Our 4th graders explored circuit concepts with hands-on activities led by our awesome visitors from CoServ — thank you for sparking our curiosity! 🔹 Kindergarteners used Ozobots to create code sequences and build early coding skills. 🔹 Our 2nd graders became engineers as they explored pollination and basic coding using LEGO Spike kits! 🌼💻 We love watching our All Stars shine as they learn through STEAM and coding fun! ⭐️🔧📚

Exciting STEAM Fun at Vega! ⚡️ It was a fun day of hands-on learning at Vega! Our 4th graders had a blast applying their knowledge of energy by building and coding mini golf courses with LEGO Spike kits, while our 5th graders explored electricity by creating series and parallel circuits with CoServ.

This week, our 1st graders explored light energy through books and hands on activities! 💡 They discovered how different materials affect light and used LEGO Spike kits to design and code a structure to test which materials best block a light beam. Through teamwork and computational thinking, they tackled challenges and solved problems like true young engineers! Way to go! 💡✨🔧

The district has upgraded the Rapid Identity ‘SSO’ portal site. This is where students go to see applications used in MISD. The new URL is https://portal.mckinneyisd.net. If students have any personal bookmarks saved with the old URL, please update them to the new URL. The SSO button on https://www.mckinneyisd.net/o/ves/ has also been updated. Join us on Monday, October 7, from 6:00 - 7:30 pm for an evening of food and fun at Vega's Literacy & STEAM Night! Enjoy a meal from In-N-Out and participate in literacy & STEAM activities. The book fair will also be open. Please note that In-N-Out meal service will be from 6:00 to 7:00 pm only, and refunds will not be issued for late arrivals after 7:00 pm. Literacy/STEAM activities and the book fair will be open until 7:30. Meal tickets are $5.00 per person, and include a burger or cheeseburger, a drink, and chips. Tickets must be purchased in advance and can be bought with cash or checks made payable to Vega Elementary. Forms and payment are due by Tuesday, October 1st. In-N-Out tickets will be available for pickup outside of the cafeteria on the night of the event.
