McKinney, Texas – As students basked in the last few days of a summer vacation moving swiftly toward its conclusion, McKinney ISD district and campus leadership joined Superintendent Shawn Pratt for the MISD 2024 Leadership Summit under the banner of “Team McKinney.” Held at the MISD Community Event Center on July 17, 18 and 23, the event comprised three days of intensive, collective focus on the final preparations for the upcoming school year.
McKinney ISD held its 2024 Leadership Summit on July 17, 18 and 23 at the MISD Community Event Center.
Pratt underscored MISD’s commitment to “Every Student, Every Day” as the guiding principal of its mission and shared highlights from his own story, emphasizing the life changing impact that educators can have on students. “If it hadn’t been for those coaches who saw something in me that I couldn’t see, and invested in me, I would not have gone into education, and I would not be where I am today,” he said.
The summit featured a vast array of topics covering every aspect of MISD, all aimed at enhancing student success across every campus. The time, as always, was marked by a collaborative focus on the work ahead—as well as plenty of laughter and smiles.
One of the highlights of the 2024 MISD Leadership Summit was a panel of McKinney ISD high school students and a recent graduate who took part in a Q&A about their experiences in MISD.
Summit highlights included two Q&A panels, one featuring a selection of last year’s new teachers and the other spotlighting MISD high school students. Both groups provided valuable insights into their experiences, offering perspectives that help inform the district’s efforts to not only serve its students with excellence but to also provide the most effective support for its teachers.
McKinney ISD Board President Philip Hassler speaks at the 2024 Leadership Summit, thanking MISD leaders and teachers for the profound, positive impact they have on MISD students.
MISD Board President Philip Hassler spoke briefly on day two of the summit, thanking MISD teachers and administrators for the profound, positive impact they have on MISD students. “What you do truly matters,” he said. “As the father of two kids in MISD, I could tell you countless stories of individuals who work in MISD who have helped guide, direct and counsel my children.”
The summit wrapped up on July 23. With teachers officially reporting for duty on Wednesday, July 31, and students arriving on Thursday, Aug. 8, MISD is eager and ready to get 2024–2025 underway.
It’s going to be a great year.
