Dearest Walker Families,
It is an honor for our administrative team to lead the 2024-25 school year with our Walker family. This year marks the Silver Jubilee of Walker Elementary - we will celebrate 25 years of excellence with a Spring Fling Carnival and special recognition ceremony in March! Our hearts in education are defined by service to our students and teachers, and we are thrilled for the opportunity to impact the lives of your children, as well as the surrounding Walker community.
Together, with your partnership, we are dedicated to creating the best possible learning environment for each and every one of our students. This year, McKinney ISD will continue our focus with the “MISD Lives Kind: Today, Tomorrow, Forever” initiative. With this movement, each day a child spends at Walker will be an opportunity for him or her to engage and grow through positive and supportive staff and peer relationships, while building the academic and social skills he or she needs to be an effective communicator, a quality contributor, and a socially responsible citizen.
Our cultivation of positive school and community relationships can only be propelled forward with your partnership and input. We encourage you, as parents, to be active participants in your child’s educational experience. Assist us in amplifying the voices of our parents, students, teachers and the Walker community. Parents can do this through joining the PTA, attending special events, volunteering at school or from home, or joining your child for breakfast or lunch. We welcome your partnership and feedback.
It is with great excitement that on Thursday, August 8th, the doors of Walker Elementary will open for an excellent year of teaching, learning, building friendships, and creating memories. After you drop your child off in their classroom on the first day of school, please join us in the library at 8:15am for coffee and breakfast goodies as the PTA hosts their annual “Tears & Cheers” event and first meeting. It will be a fabulous opportunity for you to connect or reconnect with other Walker parents and find out about more opportunities to be involved in your child’s school community.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at Back to School Night on Monday, August 5th from 5:30-6:30pm.
