McKinney, Texas — As the sun made its way over the hazy summer horizon on the morning of Friday, Aug. 2, McKinney ISD Superintendent Shawn Pratt and MISD leadership welcomed the district's administrators, teachers and support staff as they made their way into McKinney ISD Stadium for the 2024 MISD Convocation. It was a celebratory opportunity to look back at last year's successes and to look eagerly toward the soon to arrive 2024–2025 school year.

That theme reverberated in the remarks of Superintendent Shawn Pratt. "I can't help but think about all the lives that have been impacted by the people in this stadium," he said. "You make a huge impact on our young people, our community, our great state and our great nation. I just want to say thank you, a sincere thank you, from myself and the board of trustees for what you do every day."
Pratt introduced the morning's keynote speaker, the always energizing Jon Gordon, who brought a message about the FUEL of positive leadership. "I just want you to know there is more work for you to do," he said. "There are more students for you to impact. There are more lives to touch. There are families to help in this district ... You guys have the most amazing district right here and the most amazing people. It's going to be an amazing year. The best is yet to come!"
