Enhancing personal financial literacy through the operation of a school store provides students with valuable, hands-on experience in financial management and responsibility. Walker is proud to support the Star Store, open Monday mornings from 7:40-7:55am. By integrating financial literacy into the school environment, educators can equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for making informed financial decisions, ultimately preparing them for a successful financial future. To support responsibility, each student was able to personalize a wallet in art class. As schools continue to innovate and adapt their approaches to education, the school store stands out as a practical and effective tool for fostering financial literacy among students. The Walker Star Store provides a wonderful foundation for financial literacy for even our youngest learners. Earning Star Bucks by exemplifying The Walker Way and showing kindness, students are able to shop each Monday morning. This year, on the first day the store was open we had a 3rd grader notice that a 1st grade needed $3 to make a purchase. He happily offered to share some of his money to bring a smile to her face. We especially love seeing the students help one another count their money to prepare for a purchase. We hope you hear about a success story that was created as a result of the Star Store!
